Two groups of Simmons students, one wearing Israeli flags and one carrying and wearing Palestinian flags, sat across from each other on the residential quad on Sunday afternoon following a May Day celebration. 

“My entire plan was nonexistent, especially because from [the qualifications listed on] my acceptance letter to undergrad, I had met all the criteria and GPAs,” said Wright.

Despite her active participation in the Simmons community, the new rules mean that she will not be permitted to wear any cords or stoles.

After Witaconis was escorted out of the building, they posted a photo of the pamphlets on their Instagram story. The cover of the pamphlets read “Simmons University supports genocide. Do you?”

The new requirements will be applicable to those entering Simmons in the fall of 2024 and beyond.

Crime statistics provided in the Clery Report indicated a total of 34 reported incidents of various crimes in 2022. It showed a total of just 21 reported incidences in 2021.

The Simmons Class of 2024 Council members announced their resignation in an Instagram post on October 2.

According to the email from the president’s office, current students will experience no interruption to their chosen majors.
